1862 New Amer. Cycl. (new ed.) XIII. 622/1 The pastoretas or vaqueyras, pastorals which usually recited conversations between discreet shepherdesses..and troubadours riding by.
1867 Chambers's Encycl. IX. 560/2 They [sc. the troubadours] even descended to depict the life of the peasantry, and sang their adventures with shepherdesses, &c. in pastoretas and vaqueyras.
