Etymology: Either < Hindi Oṛisī (also transliterated Oḍisī) of or belonging to Orissa, or independently < Orissa, the name of a state in eastern India (see Oriya adj. and n.) + -i suffix². Compare Odissi n. and etymological note at that entry.

A classical dance style practised in Orissa, a state in eastern India. Also called Odissi. Frequently attributive.
