Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin omasus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin omasus ( T. Bartholin Anatomia (1651) i. ix. 50), alteration of classical Latin omāsum omasum n., apprehended as the accusative singular of a masculine form rather than the nominative (and accusative) singular of a neuter form. Compare French omasus (1793). Compare earlier omasum n.
