Etymology: < post-classical Latin omination-, ominatio prognostication, foretelling by omens (in an 8th-cent. epitome) < classical Latin ōmināt- , past participial stem of ōminārī (see ominate v.) + -iō -ion suffix1. Compare slightly earlier ominate v.
