Etymology: < post-classical Latin non prosequitur he or she does not prosecute < classical Latin nōn not (see non- prefix) + prōsequitur , 3rd singular present indicative of prōsequī prosecute v., in post-classical Latin sense of ‘to prosecute, institute legal proceedings against’. Compare earlier non-pros n.
