Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with English elements; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: myo- comb. form, Greek κῦμα , -ia suffix1.
Etymology: < myo- comb. form + ancient Greek κῦμα wave (see cyma n.) + -ia suffix1, after German Myokymie (F. Schultze 1895, in Deutsche Zeitschr. f. Nervenheilkunde 6 65).
Medicine.
Involuntary twitching or rippling of one or more muscles; (also) any of various conditions characterized by this.
