Etymology: < post-classical Latin myringa (see myringitis n.) + -o- connective + -tomy comb. form. Compare later myringotome n.
Surgery.
Surgical incision through the tympanic membrane (eardrum), usually in order to allow drainage of the middle ear; an instance of this.
