Etymology: Probably < babe n. + -ish suffix1 + -ed suffix1. Compare earlier babish v. (in different sense).In a later, modernized citation of the passage in quot. 1563, J. Strype ( Life M. Parker (1711) 38) gives the headword reading as abashed adj.
Obsolete. rare.
Made babyish or childishly foolish.
