Compare the following uses in a modern historian, representing partial modernization of Latin or Middle English forms:1892 P. G. Vinogradoff Villainage in Eng. 184 The word mal-men or mol-men is commonly used in the feudal period for villains who have been released from most of their services by the lord on condition of paying certain rents.
Obsolete.
A tenant who pays rent in place of feudal service; a holder of molland. See molland n.
