Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; probably modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: minion n.1, -ette suffix.
Etymology: < minion n.1 + -ette suffix, probably after French mignonette (1740 in typography).
U.S. Typography.
A size of type larger than nonpareil and smaller than minion.Equivalent to the British emerald (approximately 6½ point).
