Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin micāre , -acious suffix.
Etymology: < classical Latin micāre to shine, sparkle, dart, move swiftly (see micant adj.) + -acious suffix. Compare earlier micant adj.With the form micaceous compare micaceous adj. and note at that entry.
Now rare.
