Origin: Probably a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin memorābile, memorābilis.
Etymology: Probably < classical Latin memorābile, neuter singular of memorābilis memorable adj., thus used in English as a singular form corresponding to memorabilia n. However, the first edition of St. Ronan's Well has the reading memorable (see quot. 1823 at memorable n.), and the reading in the 1830–2 edition may represent a printer's error. N.E.D. (1906) gives the pronunciation as (memŏrēi·bili) /mɛməˈreɪbɪliː/.
Obsolete. rare.
