Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin margo.
Etymology: < scientific Latin margo (see margin n.; adopted in this sense in German by A. Frey-Wyssling et al. 1956, in Planta 47 119).
Botany.
In a gymnosperm: the network of cellulose strands surrounding the torus of a bordered pit membrane.
