Etymology: Probably < Tagalog, and perhaps related to Tagalog malumay soft, tender. Appears as Philippine Spanish malmay in F. Blumentritt Vocabular einzelner Ausdrücke u. Redensarten, welche dem Spanischen der Philippinischen Inseln eigenthümlich sind (1882). N.E.D. (1904) gives the pronunciation as (mæ·lmæ̆g) /ˈmælmæɡ/.

Obsolete.
