Etymology: < German lyco-marasmin (Plattner & Clauson-Kaas 1945, in Experientia I. 196), < modern Latin lyco-persici varietal or specific epithet (taken as genitive of lycopersicon : see lycopersicin n.) + Greek μαρασμός withering + -in suffix¹.

Chemistry.

A phytotoxic dipeptide, C₉H₁₅N₃O₇, which contains glycine and aspartic acid residues and was isolated from Fusarium bulbigenum var. lycopersici, the fungus which causes tomato wilt.
