Etymology: < classical Latin labefact-, past participial stem of labefacere to make unsteady, loosen, shake, to undermine < the stem of labāre to fall, totter (see labant adj.) + facere to make (see -fy suffix). Compare slightly earlier labefactation n. and later labefy v.
Obsolete.
