Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French entreclos.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman and Middle French entreclos (see enterclose n.), with alteration after post-classical Latin interclusum, interclausum partition, screen (frequently from 13th cent. in British sources).
Obsolete.
1. A partition or screen, esp. one dividing up the interior of a building; = enterclose n. 1. Cf. parclose n. 1a. Chiefly historical in later use.
