单词 idem
释义

idemn.adj.

Brit. /ˈɪdɛm/, /ˈʌɪdɛm/, U.S. /ˈaɪˌdɛm/, /ˈiˌdɛm/
Forms: Also represented by the abbreviations id, id. (with point).
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin īdem, idem.
Etymology: < classical Latin īdem (masculine; also idem, neuter) the same < is he (see id n.3) + -dem , particle also seen in e.g. ibīdem ibidem n.Classical Latin idem (neuter) is < the same Indo-European base as Sanskrit idam this one (neuter), and may be analysed as < id it (see id n.3) + -em, particle. It has been suggested that īdem (masculine) and other forms in the paradigm arose by resegmentation of idem (neuter), but it is possible to identify both -dem and -em as particles of Indo-European origin, and the masculine and neuter forms may thus be independent (albeit parallel) formations.
The same word, name, title, author, etc., as mentioned before: used to avoid repetition. Abbreviated id. †Also occasionally as adj.: the same (as mentioned before).
