areadaredeareedv.

/əˈriːd/
Forms: Old English arédan, arǽdan, Middle English areden, Middle English–1800s arede, 1500s areede, 1500s–1600s arreed, 1600s–1800s areed, 1500s–1800s aread. past tense Old English arǽdde, Middle English arad(de, 1500s–1800s ared. past participle Old English arǽded, arǽd, 1500s–1800s ared, (1800s areded).
Etymology: Old English arédan , West Saxon arǽdan, < a- prefix1 out + rédan : see read v. Cognate with Old High German irrâtan , modern German errathen , to guess, divine; originally a strong verb, but already in Old English with weak inflection: past tense arǽdde . Although aread is a derivative of read v., yet having been more or less archaic for 300 years, it is found in modern writers in various Middle English spellings: the regular conjugation is aˈread, aˈred, aˈred.
