单词 gean
释义

geann.

Brit. /ɡiːn/, U.S. /ɡin/, Scottish English /ɡin/
Forms: (1500s guyne, guyan, 1600s guind, 1700s guigne, guynne), 1700s–1800s gean, geen, (1800s guean, guine).
Etymology: < French guigne (in the 14th cent. spelt guine). Of unknown origin: Spanish has guinda, Portuguese ginja of similar meaning. Some have suggested that the word may be connected with Old Church Slavonic višnja, Lithuanian vysna, Romanian viʂină, modern Greek βίσινον, and more remotely with Old High German wîhsala (modern German weichsel), Italian visciola; but this is very doubtful.
Now chiefly Scottish.
The wild cherry ( Prunus avium), tree and fruit.
