单词 anoure
释义

anourev.

Forms: early Middle English anouri (southern), early Middle English anuri (south-eastern), Middle English annoure, Middle English anowre, Middle English anur, Middle English anure, Middle English enaure, Middle English–1500s anoure.
Origin: Probably of multiple origins. Probably a borrowing from French. Probably partly a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymons: French anourer , onourer ; adore v.
Etymology: Probably partly (i) < Anglo-Norman anourer, anurer, enourer, Old French enorer, Old French, Middle French anorer, variants of onourer, honorer, honourer honour v., and partly (ii) an alteration of adore v., with reanalysis of the initial vowel of the α. forms at that entry as a reduced form of an- prefix1, by confusion of a- prefix5 with a- prefix3; perhaps compare Anglo-Norman anurer to worship, honour (13th cent.), which may show similar reanalysis of aurer adore v. in Anglo-Norman, may be a variant of honorer honour v. (see above), or may show a similar merger of the two verbs in Anglo-Norman. Compare anorn v. and see discussion at that entry. Compare also honour v.In sense 2 probably by association with anorn v.; compare also earlier anourement n. and honour v. 3b.
Obsolete.
