Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: Euro- comb. form, euphoria n.; Euro n.2, euphoria n.
Etymology: Partly < Euro- comb. form + -phoria (in euphoria n.), and partly (in later use) < Euro n.2 + -phoria (in euphoria n.), as punning alteration of euphoria n.
Overwhelming or excessive optimism about European cooperation and integration, now esp. relating to the adoption of the euro as a common currency (cf. Euro n.2 1).
