Etymology: < Anglo-Norman enclinant, enclinaunt submissive (last quarter of the 12th cent.), favourably disposed (to a person or thing) (14th cent. or earlier), use as adjective of present participle of encliner incline v.
Obsolete.
Favourably disposed to someone or something; ready or willing to do something. More generally: that has a tendency to behave, think, feel, etc., in a particular way. Chiefly with to or infinitive. Cf. inclining adj. 2.In quot. a1450 perhaps with the sense ‘submissive; subject’ (cf. enclin adj. 2), but the precise meaning is unclear.
