It consists of two coils of fine wire, the smaller of which is suspended within the other by a bifilar suspension, so that their centres coincide and their axes are at right angles.

1892 W. P. Maycock Electr. Lighting I. v. 122 Siemens' wattmeter is very similar in appearance to the electro-dynamometer.

1963 Science 8 Feb. 509/3 An electronic multiplier is used to drive a phase-sensitive instrument with characteristics similar to an electrodynamometer wattmeter.
