Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: electro- comb. form, Greek λυτός.
Etymology: < electro- comb. form + ancient Greek λυτός that may be dissolved, soluble (see -lyte comb. form). Compare electrolysis n., electrolyse v.Compare:1834 M. Faraday Let. 24 Apr.
