Also applied to medicines or modes of treatment which tend to produce the abortion or sudden cutting short of a disease’ ( New Sydenham Soc. Lexicon). ΚΠ 1866 A. Flint Treat. Princ. Med. 776 The local treatment [in small pox] embraces measures to render the eruption abortive on the face, or to prevent the disfiguration caused by pitting.
