单词 dolour
释义

dolourdolorn.

Brit. /ˈdɒlə/, /ˈdəʊlə/, U.S. /ˈdoʊlər/
Forms: Middle English–1500s doloure ( dolowre), (1500s dolar, dollor, dollour), Middle English– dolour, 1500s– dolor.
Etymology: < Old French dolor, -our (11th cent.), < modern French douleur, = Italian dolore, Provençal dolor, Spanish dolor < Latin dolōr-em pain, grief, anger, < dolēre to suffer pain or grief. Now unusual in spoken use; hence pronunciation varies; the historical pronunciation was as in colour (French couleur), which is retained in East Anglia, and sometimes represented by spelling dullor.
