Origin: Apparently formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: direct adj., -itude comb. form.
Etymology: Apparently < direct adj. + -itude comb. form, as a malapropism for another Latinate noun of uncertain form (for which *dejectitude and *discreditude have been conjectured).The form has alternatively been interpreted as a transmission error for *dejectitude.
Obsolete.
Humorous blunder, used apparently for wrong or discredit.
