Compare French misogyne (1564 in Middle French), Italian misogino (1611 as noun in Florio, a1729 as adjective), Spanish misógino (1882 as adjective, 1905 or earlier as noun), German Misogyn (a1750 or earlier). Compare earlier misogynist n.
