Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from French. Or (ii) a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: French agible; Latin agibilis.
Etymology: < (i) Middle French agible possible to be done (14th cent.), or its etymon (ii) post-classical Latin agibilis practicable (from 14th cent. in British and continental sources) < classical Latin agere to do (see act v.) + -bilis -ble suffix. With use as noun compare post-classical Latin agibile (neuter) act (14th cent.), agibilia (plural) practical affairs, business (from 14th cent. in British sources; also in continental sources).
