b. Geol. radiolarian chert, a cryptocrystalline type of radiolarite; loosely = radiolarite; radiolarian earth, unconsolidated siliceous rock formed from the remains of radiolaria; radiolarian ooze, a siliceous marine sediment rich in the remains of the tests of radiolarians.
