candiru|kændɪˈruː| [a. Pg. candirú, a. Tupi candirú, candérú.] A tiny, bloodsucking catfish, Vandellia cirrhosa, of the family Pygidiidæ, found in the Amazon river, where it attacks other animals, including man.
