‖ aandblom S. Afr.|ˈɑːntblɔm| Also 9 aantblom, avondbloem. [Afrikaans, f. aand evening + blom flower; cf. Du. avondbloem.] Any of several sweet-scented iridaceous wild flowers, esp. Hesperantha falcata. Also dim. ‖ aandblommetjie |-əcɪ| (earlier often written in Du. form avondbloemetje).
