body-swerve, v. Brit. Brit. |ˈbɒdiswəːv|, U.S. |ˈbɑdiˌswərv| [‹ body swerve n. Compare swerve v.] 1. intr. orig. and chiefly Sport, esp. Association Football and Rugby Football. To make an abrupt dodging or swerving motion of the body to avoid collision or interception, esp. tactically in order to deceive an opponent as to one's intended direction of movement. Also trans.: to evade (a opponent, obstacle, etc.) by making a body swerve.
