psilocin Chem.|ˈsaɪləʊsɪn| [a. G. psilocin (A. Hofmann et al. 1958, in Experientia XIV. 108): f. as next.] The alkaloid 3-(2-dimethyl-aminoethyl)-4-hydroxyindole, C12H16N2O, which is the active hallucinogenic metabolite of psilocybin and is found in traces in psilocybin-containing mushrooms.
