risorius Anat.|rɪs-, rɪˈzɔərɪəs| [ellipt. for mod.L. musculus risorius (J. D. Santorini Observationes Anatomicæ (1724) i. 33), f. L. musculus muscle + risor laugher (f. rīdēre to laugh) + -ius, adj. suffix.] A muscle of facial expression running from the parotid fascia to the corner of the mouth, variable in form and sometimes lacking.
