persulphide Chem.|pəˈsʌlfaɪd| [per- 5.] That sulphide of any element or basic radical which contains the greatest proportion of sulphur. Originally called persulphuret. Now usually more definitely named, as trisulphide, pentasulphide, etc.; e.g. persulphide or persulphuret of arsenic, or arsenious sulphide = arsenic trisulphide, As2S3.
