peliosis Path.|pɛlɪˈəʊsɪs| [mod.L. (F. Swediaur Novum Nosologiæ Methodicæ Systema (1812) I. p. xxiii, II. 173), f. Gr. πελίωσις extravasation of blood, f. πελιός livid.] = purpura 1; peliosis rheumatica [Gr. ῥευµατικός subject to a discharge], an uncommon disease characterized by localized eruptions of the skin and mucous membranes, and associated with arthritis; (now usu. regarded as the same as Henoch-Schönlein purpura s.v. Henoch).
