[a. AF. ouste-r = OF. oster, mod.F. ôter to take away, remove, deprive; of uncertain derivation.
(L. obstāre to stand in the way of, obstruct, thwart, would give the form oster in OF., but does not suit the sense.)]
1. trans. Law. To put out of possession, eject, dispossess, disseise; to deprive (any one) of a corporeal or incorporeal hereditament. Const. of.
