‖ oboe da caccia|ˈoboe da ˈkattʃia| Also oboe di caccia. Pl. oboi. [It., lit. ‘hunting oboe’.] An old form of oboe, a fifth lower in pitch than the ordinary instrument. Cf. tenoroon.
