‖ Nizam|nɪˈzɑːm| [Urdū and Turkish nizām, ad. Arab. nidām, order, disposition, arrangement, etc.; in sense 1 used as an abbreviation of the title nizām-al-mulk ‘governor of the empire’.] 1. The hereditary title of the rulers of Hyderabad belonging to the dynasty founded by Asaf Jāh, Subahdar of the Deccan from 1713–48.
