repoˈlon rare. Also 6 repolone, 9 repollon. [ad. It. repolone or F. repolon = Sp. repelon, of doubtful origin.] (See earliest quots.) Cotgr. identifies repolon and passade, and defines the latter in agreement with Florio; but later French Dicts. explain repolon as ‘demivolte en cinq temps’.
