[In form ad. L. partiāri-us adj., F. partiaire, that shares, or is shared, with another, n. a sharer. But in sense A. 1, app. f. F. parti party + -ary.]

1. One who supports a particular side or party, esp. in a narrow or prejudiced way; a partisan.
