▪ I. ‖ meta, n.1 Rom. Antiq.|ˈmiːtə| Pl. metæ |ˈmiːtiː|. [L. mēta.] One of the conical columns set in the ground at each end of the Circus, to mark the turning-place in a race. Hence transf. A boundary.
