‖ œuvre|œvr| [Fr., = work.] A work of art, music, or literature; the corpus of work produced by an artist, composer, or writer, considered as a whole. Cf. chef d'œuvre. Hence œuvre-catalogue, a catalogue of an artist's complete work; œuvre de vulgarisation, a work conveying knowledge of an academic or esoteric subject for the popular taste.
