‖ Xantippe|zænˈtɪpiː| Also 7 Zentippe, Zantippe. [Properly Xanthippe, Gr. ξανθίππη.] The name of the wife of Socrates; hence allusively, an ill-tempered woman or wife, a shrew, a scold (with pl. Xantippes).
