leno|ˈliːnəʊ| [Possibly a corruption of F. linon (pronounced linɔ̃).] A kind of cotton gauze, used for caps, veils, curtains, etc. Also attrib. Hence, the type of weave used for this fabric. Also attrib. and Comb., as leno brocade, leno weave; leno loom, a loom which produces leno weave.
