labetalol, n. Pharm.|ləˈbiːtəlɒl| [f. la- (perh. an inversion of alpha n.) + beta n. + *-olol.] An α- and β-adrenoceptor blocking agent used in the treatment of hypertension, and occurring as four stereoisomers with different degrees of interaction; 2-hydroxy-5-[1-hydroxy-2-[(1-methyl-3-phenylpropyl)amino]ethyl]benzamide, C19H24N2O3 .
