koniscope|ˈkɒnɪskəʊp| [f. Gr. κόνις dust + -scope.] An instrument for estimating the concentration of dust in the air by observing the depth of colour in a sample of the air when it is expanded into a tube with glass ends and containing moist paper to saturate it with water vapour.
1892J. Aitken in Proc. R. Soc. LI. 435 This new instrument we intend to call a Koniscope. In its present form this instrument consists of an air-pump and a metal tube with glass ends. 1905Westm.
