intrapetalous, a.|ɪntrəˈpɛtələs| [f. intra- 1 + late L. petal-um petal + -ous: cf. apetalous, etc.] 1. Zool. Situated within, or at the inner part of, the petaloid ambulacra of an echinoderm.
1877Huxley Anat. Inv. Anim. ix. 574 Others surround the outer extremities of the petaloid ambulacra, and are termed peripetalous, or, when they encircle the inner terminations of their ambulacra, intrapetalous. 2. Bot. Situated within, or on the inner side of, the petals of a flower.
